Cael's 3rd Birthday Party

I can't believe it's been over three years now since my wee boy was born, how time flies! And that will be two years now since I did the post about about the Monster themed party I did for his 1st Birthday.

I've had such a lot on right now with work and starting college that I decided to just be really relaxed about the whole thing. I bought some buffet food, I even bought the cake this time as well. I was so tired on Friday night and I couldn't face sitting up all night baking. My friend Mandy (Face Painter Dundee) came round with her face paints and the kids all had a ball. It shows you don't have to have a big event that takes lots of planning and stress just so they have a good time. Still want to do my pirate themed party at one point though so watch this space! Alice in Wonderland Inspired Baby Shower

Apologies for there being no blog update last week but I have been an extremely busy little faerie indeed. Last Tuesday my friend Lydia and I were hard at work making Alice in Wonderland inspired decorations for our friend's baby shower at the weekend. We got quite a lot done in one evening if I do say so myself but then having new devices in the house now such as a die cutter and a printer certainly helps a lot!

As you can see from the photo we made loads! We made a caterpillar in the style of The Hungry Caterpillar as our friend loves it! I used the printer to print out 'This Way', 'That Way' and We're all Mad Here' signs. I printed out Cheshire cat grins which we stuck to straws to make little masks. I used the die cutter to cut out most of the shapes including the keys and love hearts. We threaded the love hearts onto some ribbon along with the suite of hearts from a deck of cards to make Queen of Hearts bunting. I also printed out and cut out some 'Eat Me' and 'Drink Me' tags too.

That left Friday for baking CAAKES!!! Sorry I love saying that word! I made vanilla cupcakes with blue butter icing, sprinkles, love heart sweets and 'Eat Me' handmade cake toppers. Here's my mum who's over visiting at the moment snaffling one!

If you remember the blog post about my baby shower, my friends played this game called Baby Come Dine With Me which involves taking all the labels off baby food jars and the players have to guess the flavours. It's not very pleasant and it is a lot more difficult than it sounds. Well done to Jordan who won a scented cupcake necklace with 'Eat Me' tag from my shop.

We then played another game which was more like a quiz where we had to answer questions about Jordan such as her favourite colour, film, cartoon character etc. Simone won and received a miniature tea cup ring from my shop.

So all in all I would say the day was a great success, plenty of munchies, good company and cool decorations. Hopefully there is plenty of inspiration here for your Alice in Wonderland inspired Baby Shower too. Now time to get back to working on some Alice in Wonderland inspired jewellery for my shop, keep your eyes peeled for more amazing Nomi Faerie stuff coming very soon!

Baby Shower

My friends threw a fantastic Baby Shower for me at the weekend there. It was really lovely of them , they all put in a big effort and I had a great day. I also received lots of fantastic presents for the wee man when he puts in an appearance over the next few weeks. The theme of the party was 'Peter Pan'... quite fitting really seeing as I am mad on faeries, mermaids and pirates and also because I grew up in Kirriemuir, which is the birthplace of J.M.Barrie.

This was the first Baby Shower I had been to and it was my own, lol! I wouldn't really know where to start if I had been organising it. The girls put up lots of Peter Pan themed decorations, there was a tasty buffet and lots of homemade cakes and punch! We also played party games including Pass the Parcel, Crap Prize Raffle, and Baby Come Dine With Me. You're probably wondering 'What on earth...?' Baby Come Dine With Me involves getting lots of jars of baby food, removing the labels and then the players have to guess what flavour/recipe it is. It's actually a lot harder than it sounds and some of the food is just pure mingin, urgh! Poor babies, I think we're just gonna blend our own baby food when he gets to that age rather than buy that jarred stuff!

In Pass the Parcel every time you unwrapped a layer of wrapping paper there was mini prizes such as stickers and lollipops and also a quote to read out from Peter Pan. In Crap Prize Raffles there was a wonderful selection of prizes to win including a car air freshener, magic duster and even a turnip!

I hope this gives anybody who's planning on throwing a Baby Shower some good ideas. I had a great day which I would like to thank all my friends once again for that. It's good to know that my wee boy is gonna have lots of wonderful aunties looking out for him!
